It’s as easy as inserting a section break, and we’ll show you how to remove the header and footer in Word, whether you’re using the Windows version or the web version of the software.

How to Remove Headings in Word Documents

If you’re wondering how to remove a heading in Word, it couldn’t be easier. Here’s how to remove the header from the entire document.

  1. Go to Insert on the Ribbon.
  2. Select Header.
  3. Choose Remove Header from the drop-down menu.
  4. Your header will now be deleted from your entire document.

How to Remove The Header From a Single Page

You can also remove the header from a single page of a document, if you prefer. Here’s how to do that:

  1. Double-click in the header area.
  2. In the top menu, check the box next to Different First Page.
  3. The content of the header is removed from the first page.
  4. If you want your header content only on the first page (and not on any subsequent pages), add the content on the first page. You’ll notice it won’t appear on other pages.
  5. Press Esc to exit or select Close Header and Footer.

How to Remove Footers in Word Documents

Removing footers from Word documents is just as simple as removing headers. Here’s how to do that:

  1. From the top menu, select Insert.
  2. This time, choose Footer.
  3. Choose Remove Footer from the drop-down menu
  4. Your footer will now be deleted from your entire document.
