How to Turn Off Password Suggestions on iPhone
Strong password suggestions on your iPhone are a part of the AutoFill functionality in Apple Keychain. Because of that, the only way to disable password suggestions is to deactivate password auto-filling.
If you don’t mind that, here’s how to turn off strong password suggestions on iPhone:
- Open the Settings app via the Home Screen or App Library.
- Scroll down and tap Passwords.
- Tap Password Options.
- Disable the switch next to AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys.
If you don’t want to miss out on Keychain’s password auto-filling capabilities, disable the AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys option in step 4 only when creating a new account and then turn it back on afterward.
Using a Third-Party Password Manager on iPhone?
Things work differently if you use a third-party password manager on your iPhone. You can disable password auto-filling for iCloud Keychain, including strong password suggestions, while auto-filling passwords with the third-party password manager. Here’s how:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Passwords > Password Options.
- Disable iCloud Keychain but keep the third-party password manager enabled.
Doable But Inconvenient
You can turn off strong password suggestions on your iPhone but at the cost of auto-filling saved passwords in Apple Keychain. If you use a third-party password manager, you shouldn’t have trouble disabling password suggestions while continuing to autofill passwords as usual.
